Sometimes senior caregiving calls some of us to act fast.
Marylin Rosa had to think and act fast to provide a safe and sound transition for her eighty-eight-year-old mother, who moves into two two-bedroom apartments here in Chicago where she lives with her thirty-one-year-old daughter and her four-year granddaughter.
Though Marylin and her daughter didn’t have much time to plan, they both knew what to do. What helped provide a smooth transition was that Marylin is a registered nurse in Puerto Rico and that her daughter had been assisting her grandmother as a care provider before they both moved to Chicago.
Marilyn and her daughter were able to provide fast In-home-
care. This type of care meets several essential ongoing senior care needs, such as companionship, personal care, and some assisted living or non-medical services.
Not too long ago, there was not much difference between what “in-home care” and “assisted living,” or also known as “home health care,” meant to people. But fast forward to today, “assisted living” includes “home-health-care” needs and non-medical care required.
